I am back....

I didn't realize how long it has been since I last posted on my blog.  It has been an extremely hectic week and a half and I am so thankful that tomorrow is Saturday.  I honestly don't think I could have made it one more day at work this week.  My body is tired and grouchy...not a good combo!  

So, you ask, what have you been doing to have kept so busy these past 10 days?! Good question...I started back to school, had my in-laws here for 4 days, moved in 77 freshmen into the campus, helped get my bro-in-law settled into his dorm, arranged things around for a friend/student to live with us till she finds another place, worked every day for the past 13 days and then all my household duties.  

On the baby front.  No news yet....just in the middle of the waiting game at the moment.  I took another round of Clomid about two weeks ago, so hopefully next weekend I can take a test and see.  I have had really bad stomach aches this week. It just comes and goes, so I am not sure if it is just stress and poor diet this week.   There are now 3 pregnant girls in my office.   This is getting hard.  Somebody the other day said to me"Gosh Liz, are you drinking the water in the office?  You might catch what these other three have!".  I know that she doesn't know my story, but it was still hard to laugh and pretend like it was funny.  I have chugged a bunch of water and still no baby.  Anyways.  I just have to keep reminding myself that God knows when this child is to be born, so I just need to hang tight in the meantime.  I am just praying for an extra measure of His grace and patience.  

I am heading to OK to see a sweet and precious friend of mine tomorrow.  I am so looking forward to just talking and being with her.  Life is too short to not take the time to invest in friendships.  I don't make that time often enough!!

This weekend was the first in a long time that we haven't had company, plans or homework. Jason and I were ambitious and completed some long over due projects. So, now if you come to our house, we have some blinds in the guest room. No more apologizing to our guests that they need to change in the bathroom. We have given our guests the gift of privacy!

We did wander over to Fayetteville and we poked around Hobby Lobby. I decided to not spend money on a giant canvas and a new conglomeration of oils (I'll do that next month), BUT I could not pass up some decorative knobs and hooks. They were 50% off, which made them about $1.50 each. What do you do with knobs you may ask! Good question. This is what I did:


Pooka and I also went to JBU so that he could run around. How's this for an excited face!

another one down

Tonight I finished the last of my papers for my summer classes! YEAH! I am so excited about a wee bit o vacation before I hit the grind of the Fall classes. :-) Lucky me, I have a week and a half off. But, I will take what I can get and not complain. I love, love, love school! Just wish that I could do that full time instead of just feeling overwhelmingly busy all the time. I keep telling myself that only two more years and then this madness can stop.

I am on the clomid again, a pretty hefty dose of it too. Last month I had really bad hot flashes while I was on the meds. This month is no different. I was just walking around in a store this afternoon and I broke into a sweat! I will not make fun of menopausal women anymore. It is just no fun what so ever. Anyways...so we continue to pray and trust the Lord for our future. Some days I feel like I am better at this than others.

Thoughts on a Saturday evening

I am lying in my bed listening to the rain splatter on my skylight. I am again reminded of God's faithfulness and goodness. He watches out for the plants and the birds and the animals. I have a hard time remembering to water my own little garden! Somehow God remembers to water HIS gardens at just the right time.

I had a conversation with a dear friend a couple of nights ago, and if you haven't read the Shack, then you really do need to! But, we were talking about how God cares for each one of us in a special and a unique way. I was reminded of a something from the Shack. God the Father told his child that He was "especially fond of him". I think this really is the way that God thinks of me, and indeed everyone. He doesn't just love me, he LIKES me! What a humbling and yet truly honoring thought.

There are things that I am praying for tonight. Some are urgent, some are not. Some are for friends, one is especially for my dad. Some of my prayers are for me. I like that God hears my prayers, and that though He doesn't need to my prayers to know what is going on, He likes to listen to my heart and what I am finding joy and sorrow in. That thought make me really want to meet Him face to face.

Second Opinion

This post will have to be quick as I have three papers due next week, two by Tuesday and we have a very busy next few days. BUT...I wanted to give a quick update. Jason and I went to a doctor here in town today. We just wanted a second opinion about the whole infertility thing. We both really liked the doctor and appreciated how much time he spent with us. The short of it is that he is going to put me on Metformin (a medicine that helps with PCOS symptoms and it regulates the body's blood sugar so that hopefully my body can start to become normal again). And he is going to have Jason tested just to make sure that we are covering all our bases. I am encouraged and discouraged at the same time. I think I was half hoping that he would whip out a bottle, give me a pill and say "Take this after dinner and get busy tonight...tomorrow take a pregnancy test and it will be positive!" Well, ok...I didn't really expect that, but you get the picture. Waiting another three months or more to see if the Metformin works just feels like forever from now.

So, if you think of it...please pray that:
1- God would give me faith and hold my hand as I learn to trust more
2- That the metformin won't have terrible side effects
3- That Jason and I would grow closer together through this process
4- For a little one to soon make his/her appearance in our lives

Ok...I have to dig into this homework now.

And the weather man says: "It's gonna be a hot one!"

So, yesterday I was on my front porch with a bucket of paint and a cheap brush. By the time I had swathed two good strokes across the top of my porch railing, there was a trickle of sweat gently falling down my face. I swatted a couple of mosquitos, did a couple more strokes and then plopped down on the porch...I was dripping sweat off my nose. It was so gross! I contemplated racing inside to find my dog's bandana to wrap around my wet noggin, but I realized that that just might be more gross than wiping the sweat off my brow every couple of strokes. My porch railing is freshly coated and I must say that I am proud to admit I am a fast painter...when the heat is about to kill me, I just crank up my speed to finish out the project. :-)

Our weekend was busy with house projects, moving a friend, children's church and errands. It was a good weekend though...went by WAY too fast. I totally didn't want to go to work this morning and really wish that I could feign sickness tomorrow. I must be honest and admit that I am not enjoying my job that much lately. I am trying to have a good attitude and know that this job is a blessing and that I could have a much worse job, but at the end of the day...I still kinda wish things were different.

On a positive note, I plucked a huge handful of ripe tomatoes from my garden today. They were juicy and ever so "garden tasty". I feel pretty proud of this green thumb of mine. This whole garden thing brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "fruits of thy labor". My labor fruit tasted pretty decent tonight.

Well...that's all folks. Keep cool in this weather. Just think, at the end of next month, the leaves will be starting to change again. God is good!

Ramblings

I was home, sick today. Nothing terrible, just achy and tired. I have been napping on my sofa with my lovable puppy beside me all day! My body needed a quiet day of rest and reprieve from my busy, oh so busy, life. I did watch 20 minutes of "The Price Is Right" this morning...then got terribly disappointed that Bob Barker retired so I clicked it off.   

I did have to work on my genogram presentation though today.  It is great to look at my family tree and see where I came from.  I am blessed to not have too many skeleton's in the proverbial family closet.  I am mostly proud of all my relatives.  And...I was again reminded of the funny fact that I am first generation American.  It seems so odd becuase my parents have lived in the states since I was born (other than our missionary time), so they, in many ways, appear very American.  However, they can't vote and they can't sponsor my sister-in-law for citizenship.  As Uncle Sam would have it, they can pay taxes.  ;-)
